Mary had previously used swing tags on some of her products and liked the idea of using this as the starting point for her revised logo. The existing logo was produced in a hand-written font using orange and a soft sandy grey colour. It successfully expressed the nature of her handmade products, was clean and simple, but it felt like the brand needed to be refreshed. We wanted to retain a rougher feel, so opted for a typewriter font which gives the impression it has been stamped on the page. The swing tag was originally created using a fine regular outline, but I thought it needed to have more impact alongside the font, so retained the stamped feel by using an irregular charcoal linetype and hand drew the string and hole. We didn't want the logo to fight with her beautiful artwork, so kept the logo strong and simple by keeping it black and white, but added in the orange circle to maintain a reference to the old logo. We also extended the use of orange through to the navigation in the website with hanging circles on the end of threads which became the buttons. I carried the typewriter font through to the website headers and made reference to her handmade products  by using dotted lines as if they were sewn stitches. The website design is clean and sparse with a lot of white space to let the artwork speak for itself whilst retaining the craft and handmade feel of the brand.
